So… Today’s post was going to be about rivets, but I didn’t get a chance to try out the newest set of rivets that I purchased. Part of the reason is what is pictured above, I have been working on a “waist cincher” corset thing and this hand sewing… is taking forever.
Nearly tripled my speed today, however, with one simple thing that I should have done on Tuesday when I thought about it- clamped the trim to the fabric instead of holding it with my other hand and awkwardly pushing the needle through.
D’oh.
So today’s Thursday post is a Tip or Tutorial instead of a Tool… clips and clamps can be used to hold fabric in place to be sewn together in places where pins wouldn’t be suitable. I already knew this, I’ve known this for a while. Sometimes, we all can use a reminder!
This is usually done with things like leather or vinyl, when holes will stay, and consider this a reminder if you’re working in those materials, too.
Now I’m going to get back to working on that and hopefully we can keep your attention “riveted” for next week. 😉
