Transformations!

Next month I will be attending a new convention, and there is a masquerade ball. I have been working on planning out a costume for it, and also working on an idea for Anime Central this year. I have been thinking about my costume/cosplay work a lot lately, and what I can do to bring things up a notch.

Searching for “pokemon gijinka cosplays” brought up a whole bunch of interesting results, and I realized one thing mine have been missing… is makeup. Now, I realized this last year when I did Marceline the Vampire Queen from Adventure Time, because her skin is technically gray and I didn’t do that. I didn’t want to do body paint. But more regular makeup… people are doing some pretty cool things with that.

So I have been reading, watching tutorials, and finally buying all sorts of goodies and the past week has been quite a ride. I’ve connected with some different parts of myself, connected with an entire aspect of culture I had previously not given much thought towards, and it has been enjoyable.

Look forward to my Instagram coming alive again with sneak previews and work in progress shots of my upcoming costumes for this year. I promise not to turn Tools and Tutorials into makeup based things… but I already have some suggestions for tutorials to watch, sites to visit, and my own recommendations, if anyone wants my opinions.

In the mean time, I can highly suggest Pretzl Cosplay if you’d like to see someone I look up to, who posts tutorials, and just seems like a great person all around. Her outfits are gorgeous and if you really want to get into Worbla, she will give you a better idea what it can do, and even wrote a book on the subject!

As for me and Emerald Raven Creations, I’ll be updating Etsy tomorrow with some of the vial pendants, possibly working on costume things tonight, and happily getting back into the groove of making. The schedule for Music in Mears has been posted on Facebook and will be starting June 8th. It was a good reminder things are moving along, even if I’ve been standing a bit still this month!

Join me Thursday to hear about a new tool I picked up for leatherworking.
