Whirlwind Weekend

I’ve made more of an effort with the new year to wear jewelry of my own design. Since my rainbow bracelet has been a pretty consistent part of my wardrobe, I decided on Friday to make a matching necklace. I wore it to the Women’s March on Saturday, so based it around a vial of beads in tiger’s eye, turquoise, and amethyst- symbolic of peace, love, and healing.

After attending the march, I then attended the gallery opening at AZ Gallery for Fire & Ice. It was lovely, not too packed, but not empty, and I very much feel it is the right venue for work like mine. The previous gallery opening I attended (for RAW Artists) was so very NOT right, and I have found “craft shows” aren’t right, either. It was nice to feel I was in the right place.

This year will be more of a honing of finding “my” place in the art world. and my schedule is shaping up to show that. I’ll be attending a range of different places, from VFW shows, to conventions (several of various types!), and others in between. Last year was accepting myself and finding my own style. This year is finding who likes that and will enable me to continue creating.

Wrapping up my whirlwind weekend was Sunday at the Source Comic & Games “Shieldmaiden Sunday” event and a literal whirlpool with an overnight hotel stay. I swam yesterday evening in the pool and this morning as well, plus spending some time in the hot tub. I am beyond lucky to have a spouse who supports me and allows such a luxury.

Water has always soothed my soul and I needed a de-stress after the holidays (and before the BIG one).

And now, back to reality! Anyone else have a transformative weekend?
