Information
Please note this is a 'cyber' site. These are not 'real.'
Daeross are hidden genetic creatures that are a cross between horses and deer. They may have deer or horse tails, cloven hooves or regular, and the males have antlers. They come in regular horse colors unless mutated.
They were created by the Goddess to populate Emeral's many fields. Due to their deer-blood they are very curious and happy to explore other worlds.
Daeron is the plural form of the species' name, Daeross is singular. They are not "Daerosses" and you wouldn't say 'I see one daeron up ahead!"
Daeron are magickal, sentinent beings. They do not bond to their fosterers, but more provide them company and look to them as their mentor and friend.
Their prefered environments are large open plains, but they will also live in forests or rainforests as long as it is safe. Unless a long-haired sub-species some day evolves, I would highly advise against giving your daeross a territory upon the tundra!
They are herbivores, but the mares will sometimes eat small rodents when they are with foal for the extra protein. Foaling is quite a strain on the mare, and will sometimes leave her exhausted or even kill her. Most mares will have a total of 10 foals in a lifetime. They will have even less if one of the births is twins.
Daeron Herds
Once Daeron are adults, they think of joining and forming herds. Herds take many forms, and can be anywhere from 2-20 members!
The most common type of herd is like the Herd of Sunshine. More mares than stallions. However, there may also be the reverse of that- more stallions than mares.
Also, Daeron may just choose one mate, and they have their own herd. Or they may be a mated pair underneath a herd.
~~ I would prefer if there was a "herd page" with a listing of all of the members, but it isn't necessary.
